According to Microsoft and Wikipedia’s definition, safe mode is a diagnostic and troubleshooting mode of a computer operating system. With it, you can fix some issues on your PC like system boot issue, password forgotten and so on. It starts your computer in a limited state and only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started.

Windows 8.1 the successor to its controversial Windows 8 operating system has been available for upgrading for a few days. Though some users upgrade it smoothly, others have not been so lucky. Recently, we’re seeing a number of users can’t find Windows 8.1 update in Windows Store. In this article I will show what to do if you can’t find Windows 8.1 update in Windows Store.

Why You Can’t Find Windows 8.1 Update in Windows Store?

This troublesome issue may be caused by 3 common reasons:

1. Microsoft immediately suspended availability of the update after reports that a very small number of Surface RT customers experienced an issue that left the update incomplete and their devices unbootable.

2. You might be running an edition of Windows 8 that doesn’t support the free update from the Store. Some editions of Windows 8 don’t support the free update to Windows 8.1. These include: Windows 8 Enterprise, Editions of Windows 8 Pro that are installed by enterprises using KMS activation, Editions of Windows 8 that are installed using an MSDN ISO, and activated using multiple activation keys

3. You haven’t install KB 2871389 in your computer.

How to Find Windows 8.1 Update in Windows Store?

If you can’t see Windows 8.1 in the Windows Store due to the loss of 2871389, you probably need to run Windows Update to get the “KB 2871839″update before Windows 8.1 becomes available to you in the Store. To do this, follow the directions below:

1. Open Windows Update. (You can either swipe in from the right edge of the screen or use mouse to the lower-right corner of the screen and move the mouse pointer up.)

2.  Click Settings -> Change PC settings, and then click Windows Update.

3. Tap or click Check for updates now, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your PC.

(If you don’t have automatic installation of important updates turned on, click Turn on recommended settings before you can check for updates)

4.  Click the message telling you how many updates will be installed automatically and look for one that includes (KB2871389)

5. Click Install to install all the recommended updates in the list.

6.  Restart your computer and click Store, you should see the Windows 8.1 update.

After that, you will find Windows 8.1 update in Windows Store. Before you update it, read this article to see What You Need to Do before Windows 8.1 Upgrade or Installation.

The PC business is still in depression. According to some resources, the worldwide shipments decreased by more than 10% year on year in the second quarter, which has become a record that it is an unprecedented fifth successive period of decline. On the other side, the market of tablets, smartphones and touch devices is flourishing.

Under the big depression of the PC business, Lenovo, one of China’s famous PC brands, has got good sales performance and it emerged as the top seller according to separate data from IDC and Cartner, which are two research companies.

According to Cartner, the worldwide PC shipments fell to 76.0m from 85.3m in the second quarter of 2012. One of the principal analysts at Cartner said: “We are seeing the PC market reduction directly tied to the shrinking installed base of PCs, as inexpensive tablets displace the low-end machines used primarily for consumption in mature and developed markets. In emerging markets, inexpensive tablets have become the first computing device for many people, who at best are deferring the purchase of a PC. This is also accounting for the collapse of the mini notebook market.”

Some analysts pointed out that the fall of the PC business suggests that not only the marketing shrinking, but also the shrinkage is accelerating.

Before the release of Windows 8, there was an expected decrease of 2% as PC OEMs and business paused while they waited for new products and new software from Microsoft.

However, surprisingly, Windows 8 has not proved to be the life-saver for the PC business. According to the feedback of the consumers who make up half of purchasers, they prefer to buy tablets and smartphones.

In May, IDC predicted that the tablets would outsell laptops this year and that by the end of 2015, they would outsell the entire PC segment. In the US market, where Apple emerged as a surprise third place, following HP and Dell, despite shipping only 1.8m units, is presenting that enterprises are beginning to shift from Windows XP, which is approaching the end of its support period 12 years after launch to Windows 7.

Yet, many users have good experience with Windows 8 while some criticisms are still approaching to it. From the feedback of the users, they love the new ways to protect their PC. However, sometimes they would suffer forgetting password. If you are one of the users, the nice advice here for you is to try Windows Password Recovery Tool to help you recover the lost password.

A few days ago a man made headlines for making an announcement that he could break an eight-character Windows password with brute force in less than six hours by harnessing the power of 25 GPUs, another savvy user has reminded us of a workaround that can bypass the password of virtually any Windows account you want in 10 minutes.

The trick has been used for many years and involves replacing the login screen’s Ease of Access Center software with a command prompt. To pull it off, all you need is a bootable System Recovery media or a bootable Windows 8 installation media.

Below are the detailed steps to do this trick.

A. First logon Windows 8 as administrator. Then click Start, type in the Run box (press “Win+R” keys to open Run Box) “lusrmgr.msc” in the Search Box or Run Box.

B. When “Local Users and Groups” dialog appears, open “Users” folder. Right-click a user account and select “Set Password”.

C. When a dialog pops up, type a new password twice, and click “OK”.

After that’s done, you can reboot and when you get to the Windows login screen, the Ease of Access Center icon should launch a command prompt. Now you can enter net user to get a list of Windows accounts, then net user USERNAME * to initiate a reset, which requires you to enter and confirm the new password.

However, this method could make you lose access to all encrypted files, stored passwords, and personal security certificates in your computer. If you want to crack Windows 7 password, or Windows XP password, using Windows Password Recovery may be a good choice.

With all of our advances in security technology, one aspect remains constant: passwords still play a central role in system security. I recently read an article about Windows password, from which I learnt a lot and I realize it is important to have a strong Windows password. Here in this article I’d like to share with you some knowledge that I learned and help you increase your Windows security.

What Could Be a Strong Windows Password?

Isummarized that article and find that the passwords I created were actually not good passwords. Then what a strong password looks like? You must know that:

  1. Ac#wP3T$c is a Great Password (passwords with both letters and figures, lower case and upper case)
  2. J0y17 is a Good Password (use the figure 0 which looks like the letter o)
  3. 14 Characters is the Optimal Password Length (however, most of my passwords are less than 14 characters)
  4. Passwords Cannot Include Spaces (some applications do not allow this)
  5. Eventually Any Password Can Be Cracked
  6.  Passwords Should be Changed Every 30 Days (it’s so important that you should regularly change your password with a rule)

If you do not have a Windows password, I suggest you read the paragraphs below to learn how to set a Windows password. Before you set the password you should think out a strong password, which is very necessary.

Steps to Create a Windows Password

It is easy for you to create a Windows password. First of all you need to create a Windows user account and then set password for it. Whether your operating system is Windows 7, Vista or XP, the steps to create a Windows password are similar. The following are steps to create a Windows password on Windows XP.

1. Click ‘Start’ -> ‘Control Panel’ -> ‘User Accounts’.

2. In the pick an account to change area of the User Accounts window, click ‘Create a new account’.

Note: If you have created a Windows account, you can ignore this step and go to step 5 to create a Windows password directly.

3. Type your user name for the account, and then click ‘Next’.

4. Select your account type and click ‘Create account’ to finish your operation. And now the user account is successfully created.

5. Click the account you just created.

6. Click ‘Create a new password’.

7. Type into your Windows password and choose a password hint, and then click ‘Create Password’.

8. Now that your Windows XP account has a password setup, you must use this password to log on to Windows XP from this point forward.

You Windows password is hard to get remembered, and you worry that you may forget Windows password one day? I here highly recommend you to use a USB flash drive or CD to create a password reset disk, which will help you easily reset your forgotten Windows password, whenever you forgot Windows login password. Besides, you could try Windows Password Recovery tool if you haven’t set a password reset disk beforehand and it could help you find your Windows 8 password, Windows 7 password, recover Windows XP password and more.

Your Windows logon password–the one you type every time you boot– is easily hacked.

windows password recovery, recover Windows passwordThat finding was made by two security researchers who’ve been studying ways to increase the reliability of tools designed to extract Windows registry information. The logon password isn’t intended to protect your files. It’s intended to keep others from logging onto your computer as you.

Why is that important? Because you do things on your computer that only you should be allowed to do, such as read and write your email. Unless you’ve set up your mail client to require a password every time you boot, anyone who can log onto your computer as you has full access to your mail.

And remember that only someone logged on with an administrator-level account can install software or make other important changes. You need a way to control that.

If you want to protect your files, you should encrypt them. And that brings up the exception I promised to tell you about: the Windows’ Encrypted File System (EFS).

EFS encrypts files automatically, in the background. When you’re logged in as yourself, the files appear normally. Otherwise, they’re indecipherable.

Not all editions of Windows come with EFS. For instance, in Windows 7, only the Professional and Ultimate editions have this feature. And that makes sense. Careless use of EFS can render your files permanently inaccessible to anyone–including yourself. EFS works best when there’s a IS department that knows what it’s doing, and users who don’t even have to know that their files need to be encrypted.

But there is a solution if you have a good and easy-to-use Windows password reset tool. Within few steps, you can reset your Windows password weekly or monthly for preventing being hacked, and no worry about if you lose the password, this Windows Password Recovery Tool could find it anytime.
